CLOVERDALE -- Safety Board Adviser Phil Parker announced that the Cloverdale Police Department is looking to hire one reserve officer and two full-time officers in the near future during the Cloverdale Town Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday.

Over the past month, 10 applicants for the reserve officer position have been interviewed. Of these, eight are undergoing background checks. Parker estimated a new reserve officer would be hired by the middle of next month.

The CPD has received 10 applications for the full time positions, some of them from the same applicants for the reserve position. Town Marshal Steve Hibler estimated that two full-time officers would be hired by the end of next month.

In other news, Marshal Hibler reported during the same regular meeting that the CPD filed 18 case reports last month. Burglary was the majority at seven cases, followed by DUI, DWS and HTV at six.

There were 17 arrests, with 10 being misdemeanors, four felonies and three drug-related. The CPD seized 82 grams of marijuana.

Since Feb. 1, the CPD has filed 136 case reports. Burglary was the majority at 41 cases, followed by breach of the peace at 24; DUI, DWS, and HTV at 23; and drug abuse violations at 22. There have also been 11 aggravated assaults, eight juvenile delinquencies and two motor vehicle thefts.

There have been 129 arrests, with 72 being misdemeanors, 35 felonies and 22 drug-related. The CPD has seized 212 grams of marijuana and 8.5 grams of methamphetamine.

  • I thought that Phil Parker, the Safety Board Advisor was going to quit after a Town Marshall was hired? That's funny that he is still getting paid by the town? Also Cloverdale PD would have good officers if the retired State Police boys clubs was not taking over everything in Putnam County. Yes Hibler was handpicked even before Cloverdale hired Parker. I feel sorry for the residents of Cloverdale not only do you have to deal with the corruption of your own town board but now the corruption of the Sheriffs Department has extended in to your town!
