William Ray Jackson

William Ray Jackson, 91, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017.

Born Dec. 5, 1925 in Greencastle, he was the son of E.J. and Opal (Anderson) Jackson.

A graduate of Greencastle High School, Bill also attended Lane Business College in Indianapolis and was a designated appraiser and associate in the Society of Real Estate Appraisers.

He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Bill owned and operated Jackson Company Realtors, working in sales and rental properties. He also partnered with his brothers to own and operate the Campus Double Decker and Double Decker restaurants.

Bill was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks Club, Greencastle.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara D. (Reynolds) Jackson; son William "Ken" Jackson and wife, Polly; daughter Susan Lee Jackson; brothers Robert (Marilyn) Jackson and Richard (Louella) Jackson; and his cat, Sox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and best friends, Bob Tennis, Bob Hamontre and Harold Moore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Humane Society of Putnam County.
