Tiger Cubs move up to No. 17 in rankings
Greencastle moved up to No. 17 in the Associated Press Class 3A high school football rankings this week.
The Tiger Cubs were tied for 20th last week in the first poll of the season, then defeated Crawfordsville 10-0 in their season opener.
Potential sectional opponents Danville (No. 13) and Tri-West (No. 19) are also included in the top 20.
North Putnam was ranked No. 15 last week, but fell out after a 34-10 loss to Indian Creek.
Monrovia, new to Class 3A and also in Sectional 30 with Greencastle, was ranked last week but fell out after a 34-20 loss to No. 5 Indianapolis Ritter.
Other area teams receiving votes are Linton-Stockton (No. 8 in Class 2A) and Class A teams Fountain Central (No. 7), Eastern Greene (No. 11), North Central (No. 21) and North Vermillion (No. 22).
This week, Greencastle plays at Cloverdale in its first Putnam County game of the season.
