County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 5:25 p.m. Lee Arthur Driver, 20, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 8:30 p.m. Edward Nathaniel Willis, 46, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

• At 5:27 a.m. Matthew Tyler White, 25, Coatesville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

• At 4:14 a.m. Jeffrey Lee Enlow, 23, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for operating per se and operating while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 10:11 p.m. Joseph Lawrence Hyland, 23, Greencastle, was booked in on a Vigo County warrant for driving with a suspended license.

• At 4:37 p.m. Tabitha Nicole Brown, 36, Fontanet, was charged with failure to appear.

• At 12:55 p.m. Carole Ann Butler, 36, Moro, Ill., was lodged at the jail for failure to appear.

Thursday

• At 11:09 p.m. Enrico D. Ross, 37, Jasonville, was lodged at the jail for possession of cocaine and possession of pararphernalia with a prior conviction.

• At 11:04 p.m. Stefanie M. Wells, 32, Jasonville, was taken into custody for possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of pararphernalia.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, Cynthia A. Reese, 59, Roachdale, was northbound on County Road 300 West in a 2012 Ford Escape.

Reese told Lt. Donnie Pettit she missed her left turn onto County Road 550 South so she stopped and began to back up. Reese failed to see a northbound Chevrolet Cruze driven by Tyler R. Piersall, 24, Fillmore.

Reese backed into Piersall’s car.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 12:06 p.m. on Friday, Tracy A. Dunscombe, 43, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 1075 South, approaching the T intersection at County Road 525 West in a 2002 GMC Sierra.

Dunscombe told Lt. Pettit his brakes failed and he traveled through the intersection, causing his truck to leave the west side of the road, go over a guardrail and down a ravine, where it hit a tree.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Anthony S. Duncan, 49, Reelsville, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2005 Dodge Durango, attempting to turn left into the parking lot of the Fairway restaurant. Ronda S. Leak, 49, Reelsville, was southbound in a 1998 Dodge Neon.

Duncan told Lt. Pettit he did not see Leak’s vehicle and turned in front of her. Leak said she braked and veered right but could not avoid a collision.

Buncan’s SUV hit the driver’s side front fender of Leak’s car.

Leak’s car was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to nine dispatches, five medical runs and one lift assist.

• At 6:09 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to hair care products at 402 W. Anderson St. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 6:22 p.m.

• At 6:47 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 2138 W. County Road 25 North. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 7:10 p.m.

• At 10:56 p.m. on Thursday, GFD assisted a resident with gaining an entry at 101 Longcastle Dr. GFD returned to station at 11:23 p.m.

• At 3:23 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 504 E. Seminary St. However, GFD determined the alarm had been activated unnecessarily by unknown reasons. GFD subsequently reset the alarm and returned to station at 3:35 a.m.

• At 8:03 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of a gas-like smell at 1360 Indianapolis Rd. Fire crews notified Vectren of the situation, which promptly investigated the source of the smell after taking over for GFD. Crews from GFD then returned to station at 9:44 a.m.

• At 9:16 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident at 1270 N. Jackson St. GFD assisted in the removal of fluids and debris from the roadway before returning to station at 9:53 a.m.

• At 11:31 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of a car-versus-bicycle collision at the intersection of Indiana and Walnut streets. “Very minor” injuries were reported with no patients transported to any medical facility. GFD returned to station at 11:48 a.m.

• At 11:52 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 505 S. Jackson St. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 11:59 a.m.

• At 4:50 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 407 S. Jackson St. but was disregarded en route. GFD returned to station at 4:52 p.m.
