William Ray Johnson, 84, of Greencastle passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.

William was born in Cloverdale on May 6, 1933, the son of Robert and Verniece (Harris) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked for over 36 years at IBM as a parts inventory specialist. He was a member of Sherwood Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Johnson, Indianapolis, Kevin Johnson, (wife Kathy), Nevada, Iowa, and David Johnson, (wife Pam), Greencastle; one daughter, Jeanette Filicsky, (husband Steve), Greencastle; two sisters, Dolly Dubecky and Cathy Stevenson; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Betty Ellen Johnson; an infant son, Keith Johnson; twin great-granddaughters, Vivienne and Emmerson; eight brothers and six sisters.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 8 from 5-8 p.m. or one hour prior to time of service on Saturday.
