Tuesday, September 5, 2017

MANSFIELD -- Area residents are invited to celebrate the end of summer with an old-fashioned serving of beans and cornbread, a tour of an 1880s mill, and the music of local artists Saturday, Sept. 9 at historic Mansfield Roller Mill in southeastern Parke County.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Sales of beans and cornbread will help raise money for the mill.

Live country and folk music runs from noon to 2 p.m.

A candle-making workshop runs from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Persons can learn about the art of candle dipping and make their own candle to take home. A fee of $2 per person covers material costs.

The mill will be open and free to enter. Visitors can tour the mill and discuss its place in history with an interpretive naturalist. The three-story mill contains original 1880s milling equipment.
