Getting an Education

With State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick (right) in town, South Putnam agriculture teacher Amanda King (center) and student Savannah McIntosh go over some of the finer points of hydroponics. The high school ag department unveiled its new aquaculture, hydroponics and food packaging facility in an open house Friday night. In addition to McCormick, the event was well-attended by many members of the community members. “These programs are important for several reasons,” McCormick said. “First, they give students hands-on, relevant experience. And with the economy of Indiana, it’s important to expose students to ag. Congratulations to South Putnam students, teachers, administrators and community members who supported this.” Look for a full story on the upgrades in an upcoming issue of the Banner Graphic and at bannergraphic.com.
