Tryouts Monday for Greencastle boys’ teams in Indy Hoops league

Greencastle High School’s boys’ basketball program is forming teams to compete in the Indy Hoops league this winter, and has also scheduled a shooting camp for later this month.

Coach Bryce Rector and his staff are looking to put together at least one team per grade level in grades 3-6 in the Indy Hoops league. This is a league that is run in the Indianapolis area during the months of

November through January, with a tournament taking place in February. Games for this league will take place on Sundays and practices will typically take place twice a week at Deer Meadow, depending on the coach’s preference.

All games are played at Indianapolis-area high schools, with most of them being on the west side of Indianapolis at sites such as Avon, Brownsburg and Decatur Central. Greencastle will be hosting a weekend of games at its Greencastle facilities again this year.

Tryouts for these teams will be held Monday at McAnally Center from 6-7:15 p.m. for boys in grades 3-4 and from 7:30-8:45 p.m. for 5th and 6th grade boys.

“I believe that being involved in the Indy Hoops league provides a very competitive environment where players develop their basketball skills and gain experience playing in our system,” Rector said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for players to develop their game and for our program to become stronger at the same time.”

Rector and his staff are always looking for volunteers to help coach Indy Hoops teams. Multiple coaches can be used for each team as this will help with games and practices. If you are interested at all, or you know anyone who may be interested, please contact coach Rector at brector@greencastle.k12.in.us or at (765) 653-9711 ext. 217.
