William Ira Rayfield

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

William Ira Rayfield, 92, left this life at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 in Crawfordsville with all three children by his side.

Born April 27, 1925, at Ambia in Warren County, he spent most of his life grain and dairy farming in Jackson Township, Putnam County, and was recently retired and living in Crawfordsville, where a fractured hip worsened a series of chronic and painful infections.

His family and friends will miss his generous concern and sympathy, and his good-natured laughter. Bill was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and served as the Jackson Township Trustee in past years.

Those who have gone before, his father William B. Rayfield, his mother Maude, his loyal wife Juanita McClure Rayfield, his sister Mary J, and his brothers Ben and Fred, will finally be reunited with their loving Bill.

Left behind are his children, Mary Elizabeth (husband Dennis) Robbins, James (wife Jana) Rayfield, and Joy Rayfield. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Emily Robbins Villamar, Christine Robbins Elrod, Amanda McCammack Prunkard and William J. Rayfield. In addition, he treasured five great-grandchildren, Ben and Alice Rayfield, Julian and Conor Villamar and Nathan Prunkard. He leaves many friends at Bainbridge United Methodist Church, including his dearest friend Luella Steele.

He died assuring his children of his satisfaction, gratitude, love and faith. Our loss can only be lessened by that assurance.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, with Pastor Randell Boys officiating. Mr. Rayfield will be laid to rest in Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 29 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Bill's memory may be made to Bainbridge United Methodist Church.

You are invited to visit www.serviesmorgan.com where you may leave an online condolence for the family. Servies & Morgan has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
