DEPAUW NOTES — DePauw is off to its third consecutive 3-0 start after wins over Mount St. Joseph, Hiram and Wooster.

The Tigers’ offense averages 49.0 points and 527.7 yards per game, while holding opponents to just 23.0 rushing yards per game and 0.8 yards per carry.

Quarterback Matt Labus ranks third in Division III with a 201.27 efficiency rating including a 68.5 percent completion percentage with 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions, while totaling 967 passing yards.

Andy Hunt has caught 18 passes for 397 yards and five touchdowns followed by Jake Hagan with 13 catches for 91 yards and Nolan Ayres with 11 receptions for 184 yards.

DePauw’s offensive line has helped the team to 193.3 rushing yards/game and 4.5 yards/carry and has allowed just two sacks.

Matt Crupi paces the defense with 27 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Rocky Leffler and Brooks Hepp follow with 17 stops each.

Nate Orrison leads the squad with 3.5 sacks and Brody Gude follows with 3.0.

Jake Tanner has booted 18-of-20 extra points, while Hunter Sego averages 35.8 yards per punt with five of his 10 boots landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

TIGERS NOTES — The Tigers are 91-43 dating back to the beginning of the 2004 season and are 68-35 over the last nine seasons ... this marks the 77th season of play at Blackstock Stadium where DePauw teams have posted a 210-140-5 record for a .599 winning percentage … prior to the construction of Blackstock Stadium in 1941, the Tigers played at the same location, then named Blackstock Field, beginning in 1921 … DePauw is 21st among Division III schools with 575 wins in 131 seasons … Matt Labus was named the NCAC Offensive Player of the Week after connecting on 17- of-22 passes for 303 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the win over Wooster. He also led DePauw with 50 rushing yards in 11 tries … Labus amassed 428 total yards at Hiram (51 rushing, 377 passing) which marked the second-best single-game performance in school history behind Jason Lee’s 462 against Hope on the same date in 2000 … for the second straight week DePauw leads the nation in third-down conversions at 66.7 percent … the Tigers rank third in Division III in rushing defense at 23.0 yards per game and fifth with 4.3 sacks per contest …DePauw’s 49.0 points each game rank sixth in the nation and the 527.7 yards are eighth … in addition to his efficiency rating ranking,

Labus is fifth with 13 passing touchdowns and ninth in total offense (383.0/game) … Andy Hunt ranks 10th with 132.3 receiving yards each game and has moved into 10th place in DePauw history with 1,803 career receiving yards … Labus is just the second DePauw player to throw at least five TD passes in back-to-back games with Tony de Nicola the other in 1985.

SCOUTING OHIO WESLEYAN — The Battling Bishops opened with losses to Otterbein and Wooster before topping Allegheny last week. Brian Berry has completed just under 62 percent of his passes for 685 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions and an efficiency rating of 126.51. His top targets are Hunter Baker with 18 catches for 199 yards and Deji Adebiyi with 11 grabs for 61 yards. Mher Tcholakian leads with three TD receptions. A.J. Jones leads the rushing attack with 121 yards in two games. Brad Bodek paces the defense with 41 tackles, while Ben Rubel follows with 24. Cody Streit and Cameron Smith have each recorded 2.0 sacks. The Battling Bishops have forced six fumbles this season.
