DePauw gameday vs. Oberlin

Oberlin (2-2, 1-2) at DePauw (4-0, 3-0)

Kickoff: 1 p.m.

Scouting Oberlin: Oberlin averages 333.2 yards per game including 139.2 on the ground. Three players average over 50 rushing yards per contest including Connor Hibbard (59.5), Khalik Rivers (52.0) and Melvin Briggs (50.2). Zach Taylor has completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 621 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Ryan Gleeson has caught 28 passes for 316 yards and two scores, while Corey Fussinger and Robby Reinheimer have each hauled in 13. Fussinger also has two TD receptions. Von Wooding paces the defensive unit with 37 tackles including a team-best 4.5 for loss. Bennett Jackson follows with 31 stops.

Wooding, Luis Solorzano and Jarrett Smith have each totaled 2.0 sacks.

DePauw update: The Tigers enter today’s game averaging 44.5 points and 507.2 total yards per game and are allowing opponents just 36.8 rushing yards each contest and only 1.3 yards per rush.

The Tigers suffered another loss at quarterback as Matt Labus is out after an injury at Ohio Wesleyan. Labus totaled 1,163 passing yards with 14 TDs and just four interceptions and was the team’s leading rusher with 66.8 yards per contest. Senior Jake Lasky is slated to move into the starting spot today.

Andy Hunt leads the Tigers’ receivers with 25 catches for 499 yards and five touchdowns, while Jake Hagan follows with 17 catches and three scores. Nolan Ayres has 12 catches and is second with 236 yards.

Ramon Lopez averages 55.0 rushing yards and leads with four rushing touchdowns.

Matt Crupi leads the defense with 33 tackles including a team-best 4.5 for loss, while Brooks Hepp and Rocky Leffler follow with 21 apiece. Hepp leads with two interceptions and an additional three breakups. Nate Orrison is the team leader with 3.5 sacks as the Tigers have 14 as a team.

Jake Tanner has booted 22-of-24 extra-points, while Hunter Sego averages 35.5 yards per punt and has landed six of his 15 boots inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

Last year’s game: DePauw trailed Oberlin after the game’s first two plays from scrimmage, but the Tigers scored the next 26 on the way to a 50-17 North Coast Athletic Conference win.

DePauw improved to 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the NCAC, while Oberlin dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-8 in the conference.

Oberlin quarterback Chris Herman connected with Justin Cruz on the game’s first play for a 70-yard pass play and Kahlil Rivers followed with a 5-yard touchdown run on the next to give the hosts a 7-0 lead just 31 seconds into the contest.

The Tigers came right back as Matt Hunt scored on a 3-yard run just 3:26 later.
