City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to four dispatches and five medical runs.

• At 12:14 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 413 S. Locust St. However, the alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to unknown reasons. GFD reset the third-floor alarm and subsequently returned to station at 12:26 p.m.

• At 12:52 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to reports of an unauthorized burn at 703 Crown St. GFD advised the homeowner of ordinances concerning the burning of trash within city limits. The homeowner extinguished the flames before GFD returned to station at 1:06 p.m.

• At 4:49 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 410 S. Indiana St. The alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to the burning of incense, which crews promptly advised to extinguish. GFD subsequently returned to station at 4:57 a.m.

• At 11:10 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 304 S. Indiana St. Officers from the DPU Police Department had already reset the alarm upon arrival, allowing GFD to return to station at 11:17 a.m.
