Cloverdale woman, Paris man held on drug charges in Marshall, Ill.
MARSHALL, Ill. -- A 27-year-old Cloverdale woman and a 32-year-old Paris, Ill., man are facing drug-related charges after being arrested Tuesday with nearly 1,000 grams of methamphetamine in their possession.
That represents a street value estimated at $25,000 worth of meth being carried in a vehicle occupied by driver Eric J. Bright and his passenger, Catlin S. Gardner. Both suspects were taken to the Clark County Jail and held on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
The case began to unfold when officers from Casey, Ill., alerted Marshall Police about a vehicle traveling through the area that was suspected of carrying drugs.
A Marshall Police officer was able to locate the vehicle and when Bright failed to use a turn signal when required, authorities were legally able to stop the vehicle on Illinois Route 1, just north of Interstate 70, on the traffic violation.
While subsequently speaking with the driver, police reported finding drug paraphernalia located inside the vehicle.
Both Bright and Gardner were asked to step out of the vehicle and were both taken into custody.
Officers located methamphetamine as well as a large sum of cash inside the vehicle and on the driver. In total, officers located more than $3,300 in cash and an estimated 962 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result of the traffic stop, Bright was also cited for failure to signal when required.
