DePauw captured the North Coast Athletic Conference championship last season, and the No. 11-ranked Tigers won their NCAA tournament opener over 67-57 over Gustavus Adolphus before being eliminated 64-49 by Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

DePauw concluded the season at 27-3. It was their 16th straight season with at least 22 wins — the second longest active streak in Division III. The Tigers were also the seventh DePauw team to win at least 27 games in a season.

The North Coast Athletic Conference recently announced senior Claire Ryan and sophomore Maya Howard to the All-NCAC first team, while senior Taylor Howard earned second team honors and coach Kris Huffman was named Coach of the Year.

In 2016, Ryan and Maya Howard were second-team selections and Howard collected the Newcomer of the Year award. This is the first time Taylor has been recognized.

Maya Howard, who played in all 28 games and made 26 starts, led the team with 12.4 points per game. She also averaged 3.1 rebounds and shared the assists lead with Ryan as each averaged 2.5. Howard also shot 35.4 percent from 3-point range, which was third in the conference.

Ryan played and started in all 28 games and was second on the team with 10.7 points per contest. Her 2.2 steals per game was a team-best and second in the conference. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds per outing and was named NCAC Player of the Week twice last season.

Taylor Howard was third on the team in 8.9 points and 5.5 rebounds each game. She was third in the conference with a 52.3 shooting percentage.

Coach Huffman was named NCAC coach of the year for the third time in her career and 12th time overall. She guided the Tigers to their fifth conference title in the last six years after posting a 15-1 NCAC record

The Tigers lost just two starters from last year’s team in Claire Ryan and Taylor Howard, each of whom started all 30 games.

Ryan averaged 10.5 points per game and Howard averaged 9.2, ranking them second and third on the team in scoring.

Maya Howard is the top returning scorer at 12.1 points per game.

Other top returners are senior guard Emily Budde (9.1 ppg), sophomore guard Sydney Kopp (8.5 ppg) and senior forward Kylie Morris (6.0 ppg).

The Tigers open the season on Nov. 12 against Millikin.
