City Police

Two accidents were investigated Thursday by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 3 p.m., a one-vehicle accident resulted in an arrest in the South End as a 2005 Nissan, driven by Jerad Taylor, 34, Greencastle, struck a fence along Berry Street near Sycamore Street, Officer Nick Eastham reported.

The Taylor vehicle went off the road into the fence and when police arrived at the scene he was reportedly attempting to pull broken pieces of fencing out from under his vehicle.

Taylor was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

• At 10:33 a.m., a two-vehicle accident at Durham and Washington streets resulted in injury to a 90-year-old driver.

Doris Scobee, Greencastle, was driving a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville, turning west onto Washington from Durham when she reportedly pulled into the path of a westbound 2009 Hummer driven by Stephen Moses, 38, Greencastle, police said.

Scobee was transported to Putnam County Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Officer Kyle Lee estimated total damage in the accident at $10,000-$25,000.

South attempted to steer left, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side and spill about 1,000 bushels of corn into the ditch.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
