County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 10:19 p.m. Gregory Alan Miller, 51, Carbon, was lodged at the jail for driving as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 11:27 a.m. David Allen Singer, 34, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a Marion County warrant.

Saturday

• At 3:14 p.m. Audrey Sherrell Payne, 47, Black Jack, Mo., was housed at the jail for possession of marijuana.

• At 2:31 p.m. John Wesley King, 47, St. Louis, was booked in for possession of marijuana.

Friday

• At 11:56 p.m. Maria Dawn Vontagen, 41, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for public intoxication.

• At 11:56 p.m. Tony Allen Williams, 54, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 11:02 p.m. Donald Richard Sherman, 42, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 10:15 p.m. Lisa Ann Woodall, 48, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage accidents.

• At 8:10 a.m. on Sunday, James F. Cox, 50, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 just south of County Road 500 North in a 2014 GMC Terrain when he hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, Bekin Sabria, 21, Crawfordsvile, was westbound on Interstate 70 in a 2008 BMW 528 when he hit a deer. The vehicle then veered into the cable barrier in the median.

The car was towed. Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Amber N. Houk, 29, Reelsville, was northound on U.S. 231 north of U.S. 40 in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when she hit a deer.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Ricky R. Lehr, 60, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 675 East near State Road 42 in a 2006 Chevrolet K1500 whe he was sideswiped by a northbound black pickup.

Lehr told Deputy Freeman the truck continued northbound without stopping.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, Mitchell K. Zoll, 33, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 675 East in a 2010 Chrysler 300.

Zoll told deputy Brown he was going about 45 mph when he hit a patch of water and hydroplaned. The vehicle left the road and came to rest in the ditch.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
