Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage accidents.

• At 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, Ricki J. Evans, 21, Roachdale, was westbound on State Road 236 in a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta when she hit a deer.

Deputy Jacob Harrington estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000. The car was towed.

• At approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Gregory W. Brunette, 24, Brazil, was westbound on County Road 100 South just east of County Road 550 West in a 1997 Honda Civic.

Deputy Harrington was dispatched to the scene after 8 a.m., finding the car had left the road at a 90-degree turn, traveled through a fence and ended up in a field. The driver was not around.

The deputy said road markings indicated the car was traveling too fast to have negotiated the turn.

Brunette arrived back at the scene about 30 minutes after Harrington. He said he was unfamiliar with the area and could not slow down enough to make the turn.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
