James Ray Hanger Sr., 82, of Greencastle, passed away Friday Oct. 27, 2017 in South Carolina.

Born June 6, 1935 in Quincy, Ill., he was the son of Leonard Hanger and Cecilia (Moore) Hanger.

He married Loretta E. Hall and she preceded him on Dec. 23, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers Loyd David, Lee Albert, Edward and Cecil Tilman Hanger; and sisters Charlotte Jean Chance and Patricia Kay Mandabach.

Survivors include seven children, James Hanger Jr., Cheryl Ramsey, Linda Hanger, Doug Brewer, Pauline Campbell, Sandra Fulton and Charles Hanger; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, with services to follow at 10 a.m. at Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville.

Burial will be at Clinton Falls Cemetery.

He was head of maintenance at Thomas & Skinner Inc. and self-employed as J & L Parts and Services (a golf car repair and sales business) at Van Bibber Lake in Greencastle.

He lost the fight with COPD and went to be with the Lord on Oct. 27. He was a generous person who helped so many people.

He didn’t know how to say no to his kids or strangers, which didn’t leave much for himself.

I know he is with the Lord. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
