George Mager

George Mager, 82, formerly of Greencastle, passed away Oct. 26, 2017 at the Villas in Green Valley, Ariz.

He was born May 26, 1935 in Diamond, Ind., to Andrew and Elsie (Philabaum) Mager.

George retired from IBM in Tucson, Ariz., in May 1993 and spent 24 years of retirement in Vail.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 109, Moose Lodge 1964, Elks and a member of the Masonic Temple.

George married Waneta Alexander on Dec. 24, 1954, and she preceded him in death in March 1991.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son Mark; brothers William, Larry, Richard and James; an infant brother; and sister Ruth.

George is survived by sons George of Phoenix, Jeff (Glenda) of Indianapolis and Matt of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by brothers Robert of Rockville, Perry of Rosedale and Leonard of Terre Haute and sister Shirley Chapman of Carbon.

George is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

George had arranged to be cremated by the Neptune Society with his cremated remains to be placed with wife Waneta at the Green Valley Mortuary and Memory Gardens.

There will be a reception line beginning at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Friendly Grove Church in Rosedale, followed by a memorial service with Pastor Perry Mager officiating.
