Sirens disrupted a sleepy Monday morning on the city’s east side as a fire engine rolled onto Avenue D in response to a dump truck fire. Responding at 7:39 a.m., Greencastle Fire Department units arrived at 1138 Avenue D to find the cab of the truck fully involved. Firefighters had the fire in the 1998 Ford, registered to Ross Dump Trucking, out by 7:44 a.m. The truck had been parked in the driveway of the residence and running for about 45 minutes when the owner looked outside and noticed flames. GFD units remained on scene until 8:34 a.m. The cause is undetermined.
