SPENCER -- A 40-year-old Putnam County woman was sentenced to serve three years in prison in an Owen County case that evolved from a Greencastle City Police investigation.

Selina Seeman

Selina Marie Seeman of Greencastle was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in Owen Circuit Court I after pleading guilty as charged to incest, a Class C felony.

In exchange for that guilty plea, two other felony counts against Seeman were dismissed by the court.

The charges stemmed from a 2016 investigation conducted by Indiana State Police Det. Stacy Brown. According to the probable cause affidavit submitted by the detective, State Police were contacted by Greencastle City Police Det. Michael Collins in July 2016.

Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere explained that Det. Collins had been actively working a series of incidents in Putnam County, which also may have occurred in Owen and Monroe counties, and Collins relayed that information to State Police investigators.

At the conclusion of the ISP investigation, VanDerMoere said it was determined Seeman had engaged in a number of incidents involving deviate sexual conduct or other sexual events with a biologically related partner.

Seeman was ordered to immediately begin serving three years at the Department of Correction followed by two years suspended to probation in Judge Lori Thatcher Quillen's sentencing ruling.

General terms of probation were set by the court, but specifically included a no-contact order with the victim, attending recommended counseling and registering as a sex offender.

The case was prosecuted by Owen County Deputy Prosecutor Benjamin Kim. Seeman was defended by Spencer attorney Jacob Fish.
