GHS teams fare well at Ivy Tech Spartan Match

TERRE HAUTE -- Ivy Tech and Duke Energy partnered together to coordinate the recent annual Spartan Match at Terre Haute.

The goal of Spartan Match is to bring K-12 schools together and compete with other students and schools in activities related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Greencastle High School students Carter Black and Luca Magni earned first place in the IT Workstation Challenge activity.

In the IT activity, teams built and tested a working computer based on event parameters. Teams were evaluated based on documentation and oral presentation along with the effectiveness of the product and testing conducted by event judges.

Greencastle High School students Trey Patterson and Nathan Simmons earned second place in the Balancing Act activity.

In that activity, teams built a stable structure able to support an object and withstand a constant wind source. Devices were judged on the objectives of height and cross-wind stability.
