Girls

Greencastle (6-3) at No. 5 Danville (5-2)

The coaches: Bradley Key is in his ninth year at Greencastle. Kaley May is in her fifth year at Danville.

So far: Greencastle lost its first three games (51-45 to Edgewood, 50-22 to 3A No. 9 Owen Valley and 68-40 to 3A No. 6 Beech Grove) and has won its last six games (53-38 over Southmont, 37-19 over North Putnam, 33-32 over South Putnam, 47-23 over Crawfordsville and Tri-West 54-46).

Danville lost its opener 88-52 to Zionsville and its most recent game 73-72 in overtime to Avon. Between those games, the Warriors defeated Hamilton Heights 55-50, Plainfield 56-46, Indianapolis Ritter 58-42, Cascade 64-42 and Crawfordsville 79-33.

Per-game averages: Offense — Greencastle 42.3, Danville 62.3. Defense — Greencastle 38.7, Danville 53.4

Opponents’ records: Greencastle 41-37, Danville 28-32.

History: Danville won 71-46 at Greencastle last year and has won 12 of the last 17 meetings.

Key players: Junior Jalyn Duff leads Greencastle in scoring at 10.8, followed by senior Rose White at 9.8. White leads the Cubs in rebounding at 9.1, while sophomore Allison Stevens averages 7.1.

Sophomore Ella Collier leads Danville in scoring at 22.6 points per game and in rebounding at 5.3. Senior Lexi Riggles averages 10.1 points per game.

Clay City (7-1) at South Putnam (6-1)

The coaches: Chris Ames is in his 10th year at Clay City. Brian Gardner is in his third year at South Putnam.

So far: Clay City lost its opener 49-41 to Sullivan, and since then has beaten South Vermillion 64-60, Eminence 71-24, Shakamak 65-44, West Vigo 52-26, Rockville 61-56 in overtime, White River Valley 52-28 and Riverton Parke 59-36.

South Putnam defeated Rockville 54-50, Edgewood 57-52 and Class A No. 16 Cloverdale 55-50, lost 33-32 to Greencastle and then beat Southmont 60-30, South Vermillion 46-44 and North Putnam 46-29.

Per-game averages: Offense — Clay City 58.1, South Putnam 50.0. Defense — Clay City 40.4, South Putnam 41.1.

Opponents’ records: Clay City 18-50, South Putnam 34-31.

History: South Putnam won 59-45 at Clay City last year, and has won eight of the last 14 meetings.

Key players: St. Mary-of-the-Woods signee Avalee Jeffers leads the Eels in scoring. South Putnam is led by seniors Lillie Stein and Miranda Bieghler, junior Caitlin Capps and sophomore Lexi Vanihel.

The coaches: Scott Flatt is in his 13th year at Covenant Christian. Collin McCartt is in his fourth year at North Putnam.

So far: Covenant Christian won its opener 77-58 over Bethesda Christian

Opponents’ records: Covenant Christian 11-2 North Putnam 7-3.

History: Covenant Christian won 67-44 on Jan. 10, 2009 and has won the last two meetings between the teams.

Key players: Senior Elliot Gross averages 21.0 points per game to lead North Putnam. Senior Josiah Grant leads Covenant Christian in scoring.
