Local FFA chapters represented well
All three local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters -- Cloverdale, North Putnam and South Putnam -- did well at the 2017 FFA National Convention.
Overall, two teams and two individuals received gold; one team received silver; and one individual received bronze.
This year’s convention saw 190 of 206 Indiana chapters in attendance.
For the Cloverdale FFA, the agricultural sales team -- Grace Leonard and Morgan Goss (silver); Hannah Long and Taylor Goss (gold) -- earned gold.
Also for Cloverdale, Mariah Huge received gold in small animal production, and Hannah Long competed in landscape management.
For the North Putnam FFA, Noah Poynter was a gold finalist in agricultural communications.
For the South Putnam FFA, Evan Steffy and Marcus Robinson received gold in animal systems D2; while Helen Eaglin received bronze in animal systems D3.
Also for South Putnam, the novice parliamentary procedure team -- Alex, Drew and Evan Steffy; Ava McHugh; Bree Mahoney-Sutherland; Brooke Robertson and Dartagnan Neudeck -- received silver.
This was the first time South Putnam has sent a novice team to compete in parliamentary procedure at the National Convention.
