CLOVERDALE — Minutes after authorities were alerted to a possibly impaired driver headed eastbound on Interstate 70 from the Clay County area Wednesday afternoon, a 23-year-old Hendricks County man crashed his car into a guardrail and a box truck just west of the Cloverdale interchange at U.S. 231.

The suspect vehicle matched the description of the one involved in the I-70 accident. Troopers were attempting to locate the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported that preliminary investigation revealed Kayleb M.T. Brissey of Brownsburg, was operating a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria near the 40.5-mile marker, a half-mile west of Cloverdale, when he lost control and struck the guardrail on the south edge of the roadway. The Ford Crown Victoria then spun into the roadway barely striking a large box truck.

Brissey was transported to Putnam County Hospital via Putnam County Operation Life ambulance for what is believed to be a minor head wound.

After treatment, Brissey was incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail for operating while intoxicated (felony) and reckless driving (misdemeanor). A presumptive test indicated Brissey was .214 percent BAC. Other chemical test results are pending.

The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper DuJuan Presley-McFadden. Assisting were ISP Senior Troopers John Myers and Ryan Winters, Putnam County Operation Life and the Cloverdale Fire and Cloverdale Police departments.

Information on the box truck driver was not available. He was not injured and no tickets were issued.
