Friday, December 15, 2017

A social media threat reportedly made online involving the South Putnam School Corporation was discovered Friday morning and "handled very quickly," Putnam County Sheriff Scott Stockton assured.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police worked in concert with school officials to address the matter, a press released issued by the Sheriff's Department stressed.

As of 8:30 a.m., the person of interest, whose identity was not revealed due to juvenile status, was located at the family residence and taken by his or her parents to the family attorney.

"At no time were any students, faculty or members of the public in any danger," authorities said in the press release.

Safety protocols previously established by South Putnam were followed, the sheriff noted, bringing the incident to a quick close with no potential threat seen.

All information gathered in the investigation is being forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Office and the Putnam County Prosecutor's Officer for further review, the sheriff noted.
