Boys

North Putnam (2-4) at Cascade (3-6)

The coaches: Collin McCartt is in his fourth year at North Putnam. Chris DuBois is in his 14th year at Cascade.

Season recap: North Putnam has lost three straight since a 2-1 start. Cascade lost its most recent game 55-39 at Greencastle on Tuesday.

Opponents’ records: North Putnam 24-18, Cascade 41-23.

Per-game averages: Offense – NP 52.8, Cascade 45.4. Defense – NP 63.3, Cascade 61.0.

The history: Cascade won 59-49 at Bainbridge on Jan. 23, 2016, and has an 18-15 lead over the past 30 years.

Key players: Elliot Gross leads North Putnam in scoring, but was injured last week and did not play in Monday’s 63-61 overtime loss to Riverton Parke. Dalton DuBois leads Cascade in scoring at 18.0 points per game.

Girls

Cloverdale (10-2) vs. Covington (2-9), tipoff 11:45 a.m. @ Frankfort High School

The coaches: Matthew Langdon is in his seventh year at Cloverdale. Travis Brown is in his first year at Covington.

So far: Covington has wins over Turkey Run and Armstrong-Potomac (Ill.). Cloverdale has only lost to South Putnam and Indian Creek.

Per-game averages: Offense — Cloverdale 63.2, Covington 38.9. Defense — Cloverdale 35.2, Covington 44.6.

Opponents’ records: Cloverdale 60-90, Covington 55-62.

History: The teams have not played in the past 15 years.

Key players: Cloverdale is led by junior Tori Combs, who averages 16.0 points and 13.4 rebounds per game. Sammie Shrum adds 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while Abby Walker averages 11.5 points per game.

Rest of the tourney: Frankfort (3-10) meets South Newton (8-5) at 10 a.m. in the first semifinal game. The losers play at 4 p.m. in the consolation, and the winners play at 6 p.m. in the finals.
