Annabeth Smith

Annabeth Smith, 82, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.

She was born in Martinsville on Sept. 13, 1935 to the late Harlan and Flossie (Freeman) Jamison.

Annabeth was a retired food service director for the South Putnam School Corporation after 18 years. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Amity Baptist Church.

Annabeth was known to be a great cook, especially her beef and noodles.

She married Elvin (Epp) Smith on July 30, 1955. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1992.

She is survived by her children, Gordon E. Smith and his wife Donna, Joyce L. Smith, Greg Smith and his wife Twila and Julia Smith Stephens and her husband Bruce; grandchildren Daniel, Ryan, Racheal, Evan and Shannon; sisters Doris Myers, and Freida Pettijohn; three great-grandchildren; and her cats Zero and Buttercup.

Annabeth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Jennifer Smith; grandson Michael Dowell; siblings Parks Jamison, Hoyt Jamison, Kenneth Jamison, Reba Sanders, Evelyn Chaney and Vivian Haase.

Visitation for Annabeth will be Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, followed by a private graveside service due to extreme weather.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
