County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 7:30 p.m. James F. Day Sr., 50, Greenwood, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:42 p.m. Kallie Annette Pruitt, 25, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 4:50 p.m. Devon Thomas Mullis, 19, Spencer, was housed at the jail for possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

• At 10:27 a.m. Autumn Fay Brinker, 20, Indianapolis, was booked in on a court order.

Tuesday

• At 10:47 p.m. Tyler Patrick Kuras, 27, Russellville, was lodged at the jail on a pair of local warrants.

• At 7:36 p.m. James Curtis Davis, 40, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant for forgery.

• At 7:22 p.m. Christopher Anthony Tanner, 34, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:16 p.m. Zyan Shadwick Cox, 21, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Drew Michael Evens, 27, Coatesville, was stopped by Officer Alec Pettit on Indianapolis Road.

Evens pulled into the Arby’s parking lot on the traffic stop, while Officer Kyle Lee and K9 officer Cain were called to the scene and the drug dog reportedly made a positive hit on the car when sniffing it out.

Evens, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, is facing felony charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of paraphernalia.

One recent property-damage accident was blamed on slick streets.

• At 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred at Franklin Street and College Avenue as Daphne Rutenberg, 29, Greencastle, was westbound on Franklin, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Captiva.

As Rutenberg attempted to brake for the stopsign at College Avenue, her SUV slid on the icy roadway and continued past the sign, colliding with a southbound 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Diana Ali, 36, Greencastle.

Capt. Chris Jones estimated total damage in the accident at $1,000-$2,500.

Two recent summonses were issued by city officers.

• At 12:22 a.m. Wednesday, Daniel Doerflein, 29, Poland, was stopped on Percy Julian Drive by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Doerflein was issued a summons into court on a charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and then released from the scene.

• At 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jonathan Eversole, 28, Greencastle, was stopped on Hanna Street by Capt. Charles Inman.

Eversole was issued a summons into court on charges of possession of paraphernalia and possession of a lookalike substance and then released from the scene.

One recent speeding citation was issued by city officers.

• At 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jesse Stout, 18, Fillmore, was ticketed by Sgt. Eric Vaughan.

Stopped on State Road 240, Stout was cited for 61 mph in a 40-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Grady C. Palmer, 38, Chattanooga, Tenn., was attempting to turn right at 4421 S. U.S. 231 in a 2016 Freightliner semi registered to Tranco Logistics.

He told Deputy Riley Houghton he realized he was turning too sharp into the driveway and hit a power pole with his trailer.

The crash did minor damage to the trailer but broke the pole, although it was still attached to the power lines.

Houghton attempted to contact the power company, but to no avail. Instead, the pole was marked with a roadway damage placard.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sarah E. Hayman, 34, Cloverdale, was eastbound on County Road 1000 South, just east of County Road 190 West, when her 2013 Ford Escort ran off the roadway.

She told Lt. Donnie Pettit she braked and lost control on the icy roadway, leaving the road and going down a ravine.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
