Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 11:44 a.m. on Wednesday, Christopher A. Jones, 51, Bluffton, was traveling southeast on State Road 240 in a 2015 Freightliner Cascade pulling a trailer.

Jones told Capt. Tom Helmer he attempted to negotiate a curve when his right front tire drove onto the dirt shoulder.

The shoulder was extremely soft due to rain and melting snow and the tires slid down the embankment. The top right of the trailer impacted some trees.

Jones was able to steer back on the roadway and stopped east of the point of impact.

The right side and rear of the trailer suffered severe damage.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Helmer was assisted by Indiana State Troopers DuJuan Presley-McFadden and John Myers.
