County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 12:15 a.m. Jason David Grimes, 33, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

Saturday

• At 11:48 p.m. Brandon Lee Runnells, 28, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 9:57 p.m. Jason L. Plunkett, 44, Bainbridge, was booked in for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 5:51 p.m. Steven Michael Boler, 55, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:51 a.m. Sunday, Jeramy Sheldon, 40, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt on the parking lot of the 3G bowling alley on South Jackson Street.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Sheldon has been charged with battery and public intoxication. Under portable breathalyzer testing (PBT), he registered a .16 percent blood-alcohol content, twice the legal limit of intoxication under Indiana law.

Meanwhile, a Putnam County woman was issued a summons to appear in court to answer charges of possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia, city officers reported.

• At 10:05 p.m. Saturday, Caitlin Abdon, 23, Bainbridge, was stopped at Round Barn and Ridgeland roads by Capt. Charles Inman. Abdon was given the summons and released from the scene.

Six recent citations were issued by Greencastle officers.

• At 11:14 a.m. Saturday, Herbert Hill Jr., 51, Coatesville, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham.

Hill was stopped on Fillmore Road and cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 8:43 p.m. Thursday, Cole Cooper, 25, Centerpoint, was cited by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped at North Jackson and Columbia streets, Cooper was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 7:09 p.m. on Jan. 10, Sentra Weddle, 30, Greencastle, was issued three citations by Officer Brown.

Stopped at Cottonwood and Wood’s Edge, Weddle was ticketed for having no valid driver’s license, having a false or fictitious registration and for an expired plate (Feb. 14, 2016).

• At 7:31 p.m. on Jan. 6, Steven Penturf, 54, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Brown.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Penturf was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

• At 5:21 a.m. on Monday, Zachary A. Franklin, 23, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2002 Buick Le Sabre when he lost control.

The car slid off the road, hitting a concrete pole in the yard at 3020 N. U.S. 231. The impact caused the left rear wheel to come off.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, James J. Carter, 57, Crawfordsville, was attempting to turn westbound onto County Road 50 North from County Road 300 East in a 2016 Ford Fusion. Kelsey L. Mitchell, 27, Greencastle, was traveling westbound through the intersection in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler.

Carter told Lt. Donnie Pettit he did not see Mitchell’s vehicle and proceeded into the intersection, hitting her driver’s side door.

Mitchell said she attempted to veer right but could not avoid the collision.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
