Tiger Cub girls to play for WIC title second straight year
Greencastle will play at Class 3A No. 5-ranked Owen Valley tonight in the Western Indiana Conference girls’ basketball championship.
The Tiger Cubs, who won the WIC West Division for the second straight year, lost to Cascade in last year’s championship game.
South Putnam will play at either Cascade or Cloverdale for fifth place, depending upon the outcome of Thursday night’s Cloverdale-Cascade game. The Cloverdale-Cascade loser will host Sullivan for seventh place.
North Putnam will play at Edgewood for ninth place.
The West Division has completed its round-robin schedule, and the boys’ pairings will be decided by a pair of Cascade games over the next few days.
Edgewood has finished league play and sits at 4-1 to lead the East Division. Cloverdale and Indian Creek are both 3-1, and both play Cascade (2-1).
Greencastle finished second in the WIC West and will host the East Division runnerup on Jan. 26. Cloverdale will play a road game against an undetermined opponent.
North Putnam finished fourth in the West and will host the East Division fourth-place team, while South Putnam finished fifth in the West and will host Owen Valley.
