Bulldogs hot from long range in win over SP

MONROVIA — Monrovia’s Bulldogs hit 11 of 18 3-point shots to help record a 57-36 win over South Putnam on Saturday night in boys’ high school basketball action.

The Bulldogs hit five first-quarter treys in holding a 20-6 lead at the first stop. Monrovia led 26-9 at halftime and 40-21 after three quarters.

Max Newman led Monrovia with 18 points, while Ben Nagel added 15 points on five treys and Josh Smith added 12.

Allen Plunkett led South Putnam with 13 points.

The Bulldogs improved to 10-5 on the season with its second straight win over a Putnam County team.

South Putnam fell to 6-9 with its fifth straight defeat.
