Sheriff’s Department

A Greencastle woman was charged with a misdemeanor following a Saturday evening accident in the Putnam County Hospital parking lot.

At 8:22 p.m., Jason Nicholson of Rockville called dispatch saying he found front-end damage to his 2011 Nissan, which was in the front parking lot of PCH.

Two men told Deputy Robert Soilleux they witnessed the crash, seeing a middle-aged blond woman get into a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and back into the Nissan as she left a parking space. The witnesses said the woman got out and looked at the damage but did not attempt to contact the owner. She then picked up a patient at the front door and reportedly left at a high rate of speed.

Hospital staff and patients knew the woman’s name and Soilleux made contact with Debbie Davis, 54, Greencastle. She returned to the scene after being phoned and confronted.

Davis told Soilleux she was backing out when she heard something. She said she got out, didn’t see any damage and then picked up her mother, later getting the call about the damaged vehicle.

Soilleux said Davis’ excuse was that it was dark and she was stressed with looking after her sick mother.

Davis was issued a summons for misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
