Steven J. DeHoff

Steven J. DeHoff, 65, of Coatesville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at his home.

Steven was born on Aug. 14, 1952 in Portland, Ind., to the late Max DeHoff and Rosemary (Callahan) DeHoff.

Always loyal to his country and a lifelong learner, Steven became an Eagle Scout as a young man and furthered his education by earning a master's degree from Indiana State University. After graduating from ISU, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

Later, he taught math and computer science for Avon Middle School for 26 years, before retiring in 2008.

A history buff, Steven enjoyed researching genealogy as well as people, places and subjects that were interesting to him. He also enjoyed the arts, reading and collecting books and movies.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Hall) DeHoff; son Doug (Margaret) DeHoff; daughter Lois DeHoff; siblings Karen (Bill) Bost, John DeHoff, Beth (Jim) Tudor and Sue (Pete) Slevinger; and two grandchildren, Colleen and Rory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Lane, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the services on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the services in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steven's memory to the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Putnam County, 1224 S. Bloomington St., Greencastle, IN 46135 or to the Humane Society of Putnam County, P.O. Box 444, Greencastle, IN 46135.
