Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Elizabeth R. Jones, 81, of Roachdale, went from this physical life to a spiritual life forever with her Saviour on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018.

Elizabeth was a Pearl Harbor baby, being born on Dec. 7, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late Emil and Vera (White) Rinsch.

Her father never spoke English until he started high school having been raised in a German community in Knox County. Elizabeth never learned to speak German because her mother would not let her husband speak German in front of his children, because she could not understand the German language.

Elizabeth graduated from Shortridge High School and then graduated from the pharmacy school at Purdue University. She first worked in summer time employment at Hook's Drug Stores in Indianapolis.

After graduation she worked at drugstores in Ladoga, Danville, Greencastle, Lebanon and Brazil until she retired from St. Franciscan in Crawfordsville in 2004. She was active in Roachdale and North Salem Optimist, Putnam County Republican Party and Roachdale Baptist Church.

She married Larry Jones in 1960, and they have lived in the Roachdale community ever since.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Jones; her children, Kevin Jones and Karen (Rex) Hauer, Vallonia, Ind.; and two grandsons, Clay and Clark Hauer. Also surviving are a sister, Emily Williams, Palm Springs, Calif.; two nephews, Gene and Ronald Williams, and their families; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Rinsch, Ohio, and nephews, Chris, Dan and Carl Rinsch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Rinsch, brother-in-law Don Williams and an infant son who died at birth.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Roachdale Baptist Church, 10 N. Lonoke St., Roachdale, with Pastor Shannon Ivers officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 4-7 p.m. at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale.

If anyone would like to make a memorial contribution in her name, she would like it to be donated to the American Cancer Foundation or American Diabetes Foundation.
