The annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at DePauw University opened Thursday and runs through Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Richard E. Peeler Art Center.

The campus-wide exhibition features drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramic, and new media works created by DePauw students.

This year’s guest juror is Elsy Benitez, assistant curator at the Herron Galleries at IUPUI.

Benitez has more than 10 years of experience in curating exhibitions and working with a variety of institutions, most notably “Documenta 13,” an international art festival in Germany, as an artist assistant, and at the Art Institute of Chicago assisting in the research of the Laszlo Moholy-Nagy exhibition. Currently, she is the assistant curator of the galleries at Herron School of Art and Design.

She received her M.A. in cultural studies with a focus on contemporary art from University of Leeds, England, in 2013 and a B.A. in women’s studies and art history from UCLA. Her research is focused on representations of intimacy, community and identity.

The galleries at the Richard E. Peeler Art Center are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1-5 p.m., and are closed during university breaks and holidays.
