Sheriff’s Department

A Cloverdale woman was arrested Friday evening for allegedly driving with a minor in the car while her blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.

At 4:04 p.m. Deputy Brian Helmer was on patrol in the area of 4421 S. U.S. 231 when he observed a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Blazer leave the road and hit a guardrail on the west side of the road before continuing southbound.

Helmer turned his patrol vehicle around and stopped the SUV just south of U.S. 40.

After speaking with the driver, 34-year-old Kristina Kay Edwards, Helmer asked her to step out of the vehicle for a sobriety test.

After failing the portable breath test with a blood alcohol content of .24 percent, she was taken to the Putnam County Jail for a certified test, on which she tested at .23.

At 5:29 p.m., she was booked in the jail for driving while intoxicated with a minor passenger, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

Deputy Helmer was assisted at the scene by Capt. Tom Helmer.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Putnam sheriff’s deputies investigated three other recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:55 a.m. on Monday, Jackson D. Essex, 20, Ladoga, was traveling southeast on Manhattan Road in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am.

Essex admitted to Capt. Tom Helmer he was going too fast and due to snow and ice on the road, he lost control in a curve. The car slid across the northbound lane before exiting the travel portion of the road.

The car continued across a driveway, hitting a telephone junction box and a fence. It then hit a parked 1986 Chevrolet pickup registered to Edward Craig. The car came to rest against a parked 2003 Dodge Neon registered to Barrett Craig.

The Essex car was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 5:58 a.m. on Sunday, Denday N. Damos, 47, Greencastle, was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV4 on County Road 300 South when she hit a deer.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 1:54 p.m. Matthew A. Rodgers, 35, Boonville, was lodged at the jail for criminal trespass, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

• At 1:14 a.m. Cara Dawn Wade, 30, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 4:31 p.m. Jasmine Dequise Grimes, 29, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:25 p.m. Jeremy Wayne Crickmore, 32, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One weekend arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:11 a.m. Saturday, Wesley January, 27, Reelsville, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, January was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of operating a motor vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers.

• At 10:46 a.m. Saturday, Christopher Wood, 23, Martinsville, was cited by Sgt. Ed Wilson.

After a traffic stop at Bloomington and Washington streets, Wood was ticketed for operating without financial responsibility.

• At 11:05 a.m. Thursday, David Overton, 62, Roachdale, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped at Franklin and Indiana streets. Overton was cited for having an expired license plate.
