Julia Jean Romine, 92, Indianapolis, passed peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.

She was born in Greencastle on Jan. 17, 1926.

She was the daughter of Sanford Romine and Irene Clodfelter Romine and is survived by a brother, Malcolm Romine.

Julia attended rural Clinton Center School in Putnam County and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1944. She attended MacMurray College for Women for one year and graduated from Indiana University in 1948.

She spent much of her adult life working at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in financial planning and later became the head of the Budget Department. She was honored as the Central Indiana Professional Business Woman of the Year in 1983.

Julia was named a women’s field hockey All-American while playing on the MacMurray College field hockey team in 1944. She was an enthusiastic basketball fan of the Indiana University and Pacer basketball teams. She was an active participant of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a legislative lobbyist for AARP, and a supporter of the Putnam County Community Foundation.

She was an avid traveler as long as her health permitted.

The graveside memorial service for Julia will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the Union Chapel Cemetery, located one mile west of Morton on U.S. 36.

Should the weather be inclement, the service will be moved indoors at the Union Chapel Church.
