William 'Billy' Wells

William (Billy) Wells, 57, Indianapolis, passed peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

Billy was born in Putnam County on Nov. 26, 1960 to Ray and Merribeth Wells.

Billy graduated from North Putnam High School in 1979.

Billy spent most of his life as a glass glazer and window frame builder. Most recently he was employed by Commercial Glass.

Billy never had children of his own, but had many children who referred to him as dad and grandpa. Billy is survived by his brothers, David (Amy) Wells of Greencastle, Kenny (Cathy) Wells of Reelsville and companion Wendy Hager of Indianapolis; nieces and nephews Amanda Mullenix (Jason Haines), Ashley Herrera and fiance Brad Vaughn, Kenny (Mandy) Wells, Korie (Lacy) Wells, Kurt (Tabitha) Wells, Savanna Wells, Sabrina Wells and Connor Wells.

He is also survived by 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his father Ray, mother Merribeth, brother Jimmy, paternal grandparents Louis and Eula Wells and maternal grandparents F. Gilbert and Helen Knetzer.

Memorial services will be held for Billy from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 at the Greencastle Elks Club, 202 S. Indiana St.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Billy to the American Cancer Society.
