Dora Elizabeth Burk

Dora Elizabeth Burk, 101, of Greencastle passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 26, 2018 at Autumn Glen Assisted Living, Greencastle.

Dora was born in Greencastle on June 18, 1916, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Morgan) Wood.

She attended Greencastle High School.

Mrs. Burk worked for more than 20 years as a marshmallow packer with Cracker Jack.

She was a member of Brick Chapel United Methodist Church.

Dora volunteered at Putnam County Senior Center, The Waters of Greencastle, and Hickory Creek. She and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

Survivors include her brother, William Alva Wood, (wife Karen), Greencastle; special friends, Janna Kissel and Kathy Rich; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 25 years, Ralph Burk, three brothers, James E., Charles Jr. and Jackie Wood; and three sisters, Mary Cummings, Jewel Parker and Betty Dickey.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Mark Strahm officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
