Saphire C. Massey, 20, Quincy, reportedly approached the stopped traffic too fast in a 2000 Saturn SL, striking the back of Steadman’s car.

Massey told Deputy Brian Helmer she did not realize the traffic was stopped until it was too late to avoid a crash.

Both cars were towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 8:37 a.m. Tuesday, a one-vehicle mishap was reported on East Liberty Street near North Jackson Street.

Roger McGill, 56, Romney, was driving a 2010 Autocar trash truck for Republic Trash Services, headed eastbound on Liberty and approaching Jackson Street, when the truck struck a Comcast power supply cabinet attached to a utility pole.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that the Comcast unit was attached too low and was hanging over the roadway. Comcast personnel arrived and repositioned it.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 4:15 p.m. Monday, Officer Eastham investigated a two-vehicle accident at Franklin Street and College Avenue.

Toni Woodall, 43, Roachdale, was stopped on East Franklin Street in a 1998 Toyota Camry and started to enter the intersection to cross College Avenue and continue westbound but did not see a 1998 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Samantha Call, 25, Greencastle, which was northbound on College.

The collision resulted in an estimated $2,500-$5,000 damage.

Both drivers and a juvenile passenger in each vehicle declined medical treatment, Eastham reported.
