County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 11:31 a.m. Ryan Keith Basler, 33, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant and a Montgomery County warrant.

• At 4:21 a.m. Zachary Keith Gootee, 40, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Kevin Lamont Johnson, 47, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Taken into custody on Avenue B near the CVS store, Johnson was booked into the Putnam County Jail on a charge of domestic battery.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage accidents.

• At 1:59 a.m. on Friday, Samuel R. Lane, 25, Coatesville, was westbound on County Road 550 North near County Road 850 East in a 2015 Nissan Altima when he hit a deer.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 4 p.m. on Sunday, Victor Savine, 54, Toronto, Ont., was eastbound on Interstate 70 at the 32-mile marker in a 2015 Volvo semi tractor pulling a trailer.

Savine told Lt. Donnie Pettit he failed to see that vehicles in front him were stopping due to several accidents in the area.

He veered left to avoid any collision and came to rest in the median.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
