Fred E. Green passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 93. He spent his final days in the company of family.

Fred was born on March 20, 1925 to Clarence and Cora Green in Bradley County, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his seven siblings, Juanita, Milton, Pete, Marge, Kenneth, M.L. and Baxter; as well as two grandchildren, Randy and Michelle.

Fred is survived by his wife of 71 years, Louise Green; two daughters, Pat (Terry) McCarter and Susan (Darrell) Tyler; grandson Steven (Kristen) Tyler and great-grandsons Elijah and Benjamin Tyler.

Fred met the love of his life, Louise McAlister, at Council Baptist Church in Charleston, Tenn. They quickly fell in love and were married shortly after on Jan. 29, 1947.

Fred was a skilled sheet metal tradesman and retired from Kirk & Blum, after 32 years, where he had a reputation for being remarkably strong and hard working.

Through that hard work, and God's blessing, Fred built a life he could have never imagined as a young man in rural Tennessee. With family he loved and laughed, with friends he fished and hunted, and by himself he tended to his large garden. Joyful and generous, Fred loved the life he lived.

"A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.'' Proverbs 22:1. Fred guided his life by this verse, and the reputation he leaves is a testament to the good man he was.

Fred was a longtime member of Plainfield Baptist Church. Flowers may be sent to Hall-Baker Funeral Home and donations can be made in Fred's honor to Plainfield Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Clayton Cemetery.
