PUTNAMVILLE -- A 33-year-old southwestern Indiana woman is facing charges of trafficking with an inmate following her arrest Friday at the Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF).

Christina Pupo

Christina Pupo of Sullivan was arrested for trafficking a controlled substance, a Level 5 felony, while visiting offender Christopher Webster, also 33.

The Office of Investigations and Intelligence (OII) obtained intelligence information that Pupo was going to attempt to traffic drugs into the facility, Putnamville officials said.

Surveillance was set up and the visit was monitored by OII investigators who reportedly observed Pupo attempting to hide an unidentified object in some food she had purchased for offender Webster.

Before she could give the food to the inmate, she was questioned by investigators and escorted from the visiting room to the OII interview room where Pupo was read her Miranda rights. Pupo then agreed to provide a statement to investigators Robert Evans and Angela Taylor.

The package authorities recovered was opened and found to contain 26 orange strips believed to be Suboxone.

During the interview she admitted to trafficking on two separate occasions while visiting Webster, who was sentenced out of Vigo County in June 2011 on five counts of burglary and one count of battery.

Webster's earlier release date from prison is listed as Feb. 16, 2020, according to Department of Correction records.

Pupo was subsequently placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Putnam County Jail.
