Tiger standout gets big honor
DePauw junior guard Maya Howard of St. Louis has been voted to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region First Team by a panel of sports information directors.
The 2017-18 North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year led the Tigers with 15.2 points, 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. She also shot 38.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 85.5 percent from the free throw line.
A three-time all-NCAC player, including first-team selections in 2017 and 2018, Howard was the D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Newcomer of the Year in 2016.
DePauw finished the season with a 25-3 overall mark and a sixth NCAC title in seven seasons in the conference with a 16-0 league record. The Tigers earned the program’s 19th overall NCAA Division III tournament appearance and hold the nation’s second-longest streak of appearances at 15.
