Republic Services has asked the City of Greencastle to go to a two-day-a-week recycling pick-up, effective Monday, March 26.

The new recycling days may not match trash days.

The change will allow Republic to be more efficient and will allow the city to avoid a fee increase.

The east half of the city will be picked up on alternating Mondays. The west half will be picked up on alternating Tuesdays.

Recycling will still be picked up every two weeks as it is currently. The recycling bin must be at the curb by 6 a.m., Republic officials note.

“We do appreciate everyone’s patience while the new schedule is implemented,” Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory said Monday.

The information is being mailed to all trash/recycling customers.

In addition to the mailings, the city will be posting the information on its Facebook page and the city’s website under the Resources tab.
