More honors for Tigers’ Howard

DePauw junior guard Maya Howard (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) has been named to a pair of all-America teams as she earned honorable mention from both D3hoops.com and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

The 2017-18 North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year led the Tigers with 15.2 points, 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. She also shot 38.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 85.5 percent from the free throw line. Howard earlier was named D3hoops.com First Team All-Great Lakes Region.

A three-time all-NCAC player including first-team selections in 2017 and 2018, Howard was the D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Newcomer of the Year in 2016.

DePauw finished the season with a 25-3 overall mark and a sixth NCAC title in seven seasons in the conference with a 16-0 league record. The Tigers earned the program’s 19th overall NCAA Division III tournament appearance and hold the nation’s second-longest streak of appearances at 15.
