Support Services, youth coalition host challenge event

Monday, April 2, 2018

Vaseline on your face, bean bag toss, tests of memory and teamwork between all ages at its best.

All will be on display when Family Support Services of West Central Indiana hosts its inaugural Family and Friends Challenge event, presented by its Community-wide Youth Coalition for Leadership and Education (CYCLE) on Sunday, April 8.

The 3 p.m. event at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building will mix fun and games in a similar fashion to “Minute to Win It”-style games. Families and groups of friends are encouraged to form teams of four, with all ages welcome.

Teams will complete games at stations and compete to get the best times and most points. At the end of the night, winning teams will be awarded prizes. Throughout the evening, there will be music, selfie booths, raffle prizes and more.

The event has been planned and organized by CYCLE, Family Support Services Youth Coalition that consists of young leaders from all four county high schools. The group’s mission is to promote connectedness and involvement in the community for youth and community members.

When youth feel connected to peers, adults, their school and their community, they are more likely to do well in school and make healthy choices. Participants gain leadership skills as they plan and carry out projects to build connectedness in Putnam County.

It’s free, however, donations will be accepted the night of the event. Team registration can be done by visiting www.fsswci.net or visiting FSSWCI offices at 22 W. Washington St., Greencastle.

For more information, or to make a donation of financial support or door prizes, persons may call 653-4820 or email info@pcfss.net.

FSSWCI serves Putnam, Owen, Clay, Montgomery and Boone counties and is dedicated to preventing child neglect and abuse, ending relationship abuse, eliminating sexual violence, supporting battered men, women and children, nurturing new mothers and young families, educating youth about healthy relationships, and teaching abusers how to feel compassion and to manage their expressions of anger appropriately while taking responsibility for their actions.
