County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 7:32 p.m. David Vernon Furr, 55, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:32 p.m. Raymond Douglas Gray, 26, Reelsville, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy.

• At 3:34 p.m. Robert Gene Frietzsche, 57, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and driving as a habitual traffic violator.

Friday

• At 7:55 p.m. Frederick Buttery Jr., 43, Poland, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 7:54 p.m. Rick Lee Green, 41, Poland, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 4:03 a.m. Robert Lee Heide, 25, Crawfordsville, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 1:26 p.m. Urbano Quechulpa Arrieta, 31, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 8:28 a.m. Candace Elaine Wesley, 28, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 4:34 a.m. Stephen Shaun Anderson, 35, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

City Police

One arrest was reported in recent activity by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 2:51 p.m. Friday, Taureen Kyron Terry, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine.

Terry, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a criminal trespassing charge, was arrested at the Greencastle McDonald’s where he was reportedly asking people for money. He previously had been ordered to stay off the restaurant property.

Meanwhile, four recent citations were issued by Greencastle officers.

• At 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Wanda Tomlin, 56, Greencastle, was cited by Sgt. Ed Wilson.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue, Tomlin was ticketed for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 10:07 p.m. Friday, Hope Ramey, 21, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Chris Jones,

Ramey, who was stopped on South Street near Fairview Drive, was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 9:06 p.m. Friday, Matthew Trout, 27, Brazil, was ticketed by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway near Tennessee Street, Trout was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 3:12 p.m. Thursday, Andrew King, 29, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Jones.

Stopped on Horseshoe Drive, King was cited for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility (no insurance).

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage accidents.

• At 7:49 a.m. on Saturday, Deputy Brian Helmer was dispatched to the Cloverdale Super 8 Motel for a report of a trailer that had been hit overnight.

The driver told Helmer he had parked the Bison Ranger trailer the night before and noticed in the morning that someone had hit the trailer.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 8:27 p.m. on Friday, Alyssa A. Horrall, 26, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 350 North in a 2017 Subaru Legacy when she slowed for a deer on the side of the road.

As she began to speed back up the deer ran into the road. Horrall hit the head of the deer with the front passenger side of her vehicle.

Horrall complained of shoulder and chest pain and said she would go to the hospital on her own.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 9:55 a.m. on Friday, Riley A. Summerlot, 20, Roachdale, was westbound on U.S. 231 near U.S. 36 in a 2010 Chrysler 300 when he hit a deer.

The car had to be towed. Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 10:59 a.m. on Monday, March 26, William M. Strahn, 49, Bloomington, was eastbound on Interstate 70 in a 2005 Kenworth T600 pulling a trailer. Heather M. Parsons, 41, West Terre Haute, was also eastbound in a 2008 Kia Sedona.

Parsons told Deputy Helmer she was behind Strahn’s trailer when a piece of ice fell from the top and shattered her windshield.

Strahn said he was not sure if the ice came off his vehicle but he stopped to help.

Parsons said she and her passengers did not need an ambulance, although her daughter sustained a cut finger.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
